Where this data comes from
This explorer organizes the publicly available UNOOSA Documents and
Resolutions database, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs
catalogue of Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space documents. All
source material is public and remains available at unoosa.org. It covers the
Committee (COPUOS), the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee (STSC), the
Legal Subcommittee (LSC), General Assembly resolutions, journals, and OOSA
publications.
- 4,624 public records are indexed (4,479 documents and 145
resolutions), spanning 1961 to 2026, refreshed weekly from the
public source.
- 4,245 documents have machine-extracted full text. The remainder
are image-only or scanned files and appear as catalogue metadata only.
- The 30 themes and the semantic graph (treaties, treaty
articles, agenda items, legal norms, Member States, committees, and
roughly 46,000 RDF triples) are produced by automated text analysis.
They are navigational aids and a best-effort synthesis, not an official
United Nations classification or a legal determination.
- Extracted text is presented as length-capped excerpts. Every record
links back to its authoritative file on unoosa.org through the
Official UN source button in the reader. For the complete and
authoritative text, always consult that source.
This is an independent analytical compilation of public materials. It is not
an official United Nations or UNOOSA product.
How to use the explorer
OverviewCorpus totals, documents-per-year, distribution by
UN body, and the leading themes. Click any chart series to drill in.
Knowledge MapA treemap of every theme by volume and an
issue-intensity heatmap by decade. Click a tile or cell to open that theme.
Semantic GraphThe RDF/OWL ontology graph. Filter by entity
class, click a node for its profile and documents, click an edge to see
the documents that evidence that relationship, and run the built-in
policy questions. Download the ontology and instance graph as Turtle.
Theme NetworkA force-directed map of themes that recur
together across documents.
Themes & IssuesA card per theme with its trajectory.
Open one for a year chart, a by-body breakdown, and its full document list.
Timeline & PatternsSix decades of output with regime
milestones, a theme-momentum comparator, and per-year document lists.
DocumentsThe full library with combinable filters on text,
body, theme, year, and sort order.
SearchThe top bar searches symbols, titles, and themes.
Press Enter to open the filtered library.
ReaderSelecting any document opens the extracted text with
its metadata, themes, and a link to the official UN source.
Everything is
connected: themes, graph nodes, chart series, timeline years, and table rows
all route into one another, and any document opens in the reader.
